How does direct cremation work?

Hiring us means a 100% online hiring process, without added hassle and informed at all times that everything is on track. Once the service has been paid for, we will keep you updated on the status of each step via email.

You choose the plan that best suits your needs and fill out a small form with your contact information. You proceed with the online payment and then provide some details of the deceased person. You can also do the entire process over the phone with our team.

1. Online/phone hiring

We will pick up your loved one and bring him/her into our care. We will, as well, proceed with all the arrangements and legal paperwork.

2. Service activation

Finally, based on you choice, we will deliver the ashes to the provided address or we may scatter them for you and provide the official cremation certificate.

4. Delivery of ashes

Cremation will take place at local partner facilities and, subject to the service chosen, you may attend to say your last goodbye. We will safely keep the urn with the ashes until it is delivered.

Are there any additional costs I should consider?

None. Our plans for a pure cremation service include any basic need, even if a pacemaker removal must be performed. If you'd like other added services, you can choose the Comfort or Elite plan.

What are the services included in the direct cremation cost?

Are there payment plans or financing available?

Postponing or financing funeral services involves significant added costs. Since direct cremation is aimed at families who cannot or do not want to afford high expenses, we do not offer this type of financial services.

Is it an unattended cremation?

Stelae Soft and Stelae comfort are unattended cremations. The Elite plan includes a in person attendance for a final goodbye.

Is the service available in my area?

We offer our cremation service in the provinces of Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Mallorca or Ibiza, and both the pick up of the deceased and the delivery of the ashes must be within the same province. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us.

What if the deceased has a pacemaker?

If the deceased has a pacemaker, the removal of this device is mandatory before beginning the cremation process. This cost is included in the price of all plans.

Is a coffinless cremation possible?

Spanish legislation requires that all corpses be buried in their coffin, so it is not possible to have a burial or a cremation without a coffin.

How long does it take until the urn is delivered?

From the moment payment for the service is confirmed, it'll take a maximum of 8 days until we deliver the urn with the ashes to the family members.

Is direct cremation an environmentally friendly process?

Yes, our direct cremation service has the lowest possible environmental impact. We offer ecological coffins and urns and carry out the cremation process in crematory ovens that have low emission filters, thus respecting the environment.

What does legal arrangements include?

In order to help you in these difficult times, we put all our legal and tax experience at your disposal. We help you prepare all the necessary paperwork and advise you on any questions you may have.

What happens if I am not at home when the ashes are delivered?

The Spanish legislation requires the person ordering the direct cremation service be the one who personally receives the ashes. However, if this situation arises, we will let you how to proceed.

Are there any legal requirements to perform a direct cremation?

Although these are not common cases, there are different legal requirements in Spain in which direct cremation could not be carried out:

  • If the judge does not authorize cremation in case of judicial death.
  • If the deceased person has received internal radiation therapy for prostate tumor in the previous 8 months.
